1914 - 1918 Tenterden Remembers
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
And as you remember them, remember us O Lord; grant us peace in our time and a longing for the day when people of every language, race and nation will be brought into the unity of Christ's Kingdom.
Service of Remembrance on Sunday 9th November at 9.30 in St Mildred's Church followed by
Service of Remembrance at the Tenterden War Memorial in the High Street at 10.45 am
Welcome to the website of the Church of England in Tenterden!
We are three churches:
St. Mildred - St. Michael and All Angels - St. John the Baptist;
and we are at the heart of the communities of
Tenterden + St. Michael’s + Smallhythe.
We exist to proclaim the glory of God in Jesus Christ and to show that God loves all people. We are friendly churches where people can worship God, make friends, feel refreshed and uplifted. There’s a place for you and we’d love you to join us.
With every good wish,
Lindsay Hammond (Vicar)

Churches "Together" for "Group" Choral Evensong
Watch this space for next date and venue!
We are part of an informal group of churches, along with Appledore, Ebony, Newenden, Rolvenden, Stone and Wittersham. We are beginning to think about ways in which we can work together. One expression of our common life will be an occasional Choral Evensong and the recent evening in September at Wittersham was our fourth.
Church Cleaners are needed at St Mildred's : Julie Hodgkins, who ably cleaned the church for many years, hung up her duster when she, Chris and the family moved to Egerton where Chris is serving as Assistant Curate. We have replaced Julie with a team of volunteer cleaners. We have divided the church into areas and have asked one or more people to adopt an area and keep it clean and tidy, going in each week at a convenient time. We could do with more volunteers. Can you help? If so, please contact Chris Teesdale (01797 270366).
Readers : Have you a burning desire to read the Bible passages at our services? We urgently need new readers at St Mildred’s, so if you would like to join the merry band or find out more about it before you say ‘yes’, then contact Lindsay. Training will be given. Please help.
Magazine Editors : We are looking for another person to join the magazine team to become an editor. We normally have 5 editors so each only has to produce 2 issues a year. We have a lively group consisting of the editors, 2 roving reporters and 2 representatives from the other 2 churches plus Lindsay as Chairman. We meet 10 times a year to plan the issue 2 months away, and review what has been received for the issue 1 month away. We provide the software as well as training and help. Could this be you? If interested in finding out more please contact Neil de Villiers (01580 765 868) or talk to any of the magazine team.
Youth Work : We urgently need to find some willing people to help with the all-important work with our young people. So can you spare a little time to join the Friday night Emanate youth group rota or help swell the number of Sunday Club leaders? If you can, please get in touch with Shirley Docker (762492).
Coffee Rota : Or if you would like to join the Sunday morning coffee rota at St. Mildred’s, then please contact Elizabeth Emson (763595).
Aids Support : For many years we have supported a charity working with AIDS orphans in an African township. While our practical support is enormously appreciated, the orphans, their families, and the charity also need lots of prayer support, particularly concerning issues over which the charity has no control. A monthly prayer letter goes out to anyone who commits to regular prayer for this. Would you be willing to pray? If so, please contact Lindsay.
