Welcome to the website of the Church of England in Tenterden!
We are three churches:
St. Mildred - St. Michael and All Angels - St. John the Baptist;
and we are at the heart of the communities of
Tenterden + St. Michael’s + Smallhythe.
We exist to proclaim the glory of God in Jesus Christ and to show that God loves all people. We are friendly churches where people can worship God, make friends, feel refreshed and uplifted. There’s a place for you and we’d love you to join us.
With every good wish,
Lindsay Hammond (Vicar)

Open Church for "Christmas Market"
Saturday 5th December, 10am to 6pm, St. Mildred's Church
This year, the Friday-evening Christmas Late Night Shopping is being replaced by an all-day Christmas Market. We at St Mildred’s will be playing a full part in the celebrations.
The church bells will ring at 10am, heralding the beginning of the Christmas Market. Once again, the animals of the nativity will make a special appearance, from 10am until noon. Children will be able to make Christingles from 10am until noon in readiness for the Christingle Service on the following day. In the afternoon we switch from Christingles to angels, which children will be able to colour and hang on the church Christmas tree. At 2.30pm the Romney Marsh Hand Bell Ringers will add their distinctive sound to the festivities, with Ed Adams appearing later on to play some of the music of The Tenterden Nativity. We hope that The Rhythm of Life Choir will appear at some point in the afternoon.
At about 6pm, with the church lighting subdued in favour of candlelight, our own choir will sing traditional carols, with the church gradually becoming still and quiet for the last period of the day. Refreshments will served through the day to welcome visitors and pilgrims.
If you can make mince pies and sausage rolls for this event, could you please add your name to the list at the cross-aisle in St Mildred’s?

Magazine Editors : We are looking for another person to join the magazine team to become an editor. We normally have 5 editors so each only has to produce 2 issues a year. We have a lively group consisting of the editors, roving reporters and representatives from the other 2 churches plus Lindsay as Chairman. We meet 10 times a year to plan the issue 2 months away, and to review what has been received for the issue 1 month away. We provide the software as well as training and help. Could this be you? If interested in finding out more please contact Neil de Villiers (01580 765 868) or talk to any of the magazine team.
Youth Work : We urgently need to find some willing people to help with the all-important work with our young people. So can you spare a little time to join the Friday night Emanate youth group rota or help swell the number of Sunday Club leaders? If you can, please get in touch with Shirley Docker (762492).
Coffee Rota : Or if you would like to join the Sunday morning coffee rota at St. Mildred’s, then please contact Jean Easto (01233 850960).
Aids Support : For many years we have supported a charity working with AIDS orphans in an African township. While our practical support is enormously appreciated, the orphans, their families, and the charity also need lots of prayer support, particularly concerning issues over which the charity has no control. A monthly prayer letter goes out to anyone who commits to regular prayer for this. Would you be willing to pray? If so, please contact Lindsay.
